plenty of bars still have "wing night" specials...but you're not going to get that price on a takeout order.
I agree totally. They do the wing specials at the bars to try to boost alcohol sales. Big Barry's we used to order 100 at a time easily. Nowadays it is not uncommon to see them at 75-80 cents per. Crazy!!!
You have to deep fry or they will never be as good as a restaurant..crispy outside juicy inside. Baking just leaves them dry.
I deep fried for the superbowl and they were met with rave reviews. I made a couple of sauces, but the traditional wing sauce recipe (butter, Franks, worschestire, a few other things) version was as good as any restaurant.
To make them crisp in the oven, cook them at a regular temperature and when they are almost done, you put the oven to the broil setting to crisp up/dry the outside. You can baste during cooking or right after based on preference.
Yes, the wings at Croxleys are a hit or miss but isn't that enough reason to go? I frequent the ones at Franklin Square and Rockville Centre. The ladies at the RC location are nice to look at as you are stuffing your face with wings and beer. For 20 cents a wing is there much to complain about?
Cassidy's on Newbridge Rd. N Bellmore! The Best IMHO.
