Special Pickup in Merrick? (garbage, hours, outside)

I threw out an old couch and tried to call for special pickup at 516 378-8484 but no answer or message - is this the right number and will I get in trouble for having the couch out there since I haven't officially made an appointment? Anyone know the hours?

The special pick up number you have is correct. 516-378-8484
They are there monday - friday.

There is another number for the Department of Sanitation in Merrick...
516-378-4210 monday - friday 9 am to 4:45 pm.


They always tell you to put out the item the night before. However, sometimes the appointment they give you can be a week later.

So if you can't get thru on monday at the 378-8484 try the other number.

As far as getting in trouble for having it outside now, I don't know. Sorry.

FYI, if you do put it out early, you will get notices and fines. or if you think regular garbage will take it, and they don't, notice and fine...
