My cable bill [ like peabodyn said] went up almost 60 per month for the triple play endidng. No one would adjust it back down for being a loyal customer from 1982
I call the disconnect dept to end the service. [ on hold almost 1/2 hour] Spoke to Anthony
My rate went down to 128 per month [ family cable [ hih end] phone and IO on line.
Was looking at my on line bill it should 160 per month.
Took me an hour on the phone to get it straightened out.
NOTE write down names and times of who and when you talk to them.
Funny note
the girl I talked to had no one named Anthony in her call center. So WTF?

While I am no fan of Cablevision, it is somewhat of a necessary evil in my house. I don't need premium movie or sport channels. My triple play promo expired and like everyone else here, my bill shot up and I called and requested to be downgraded to broadcast basic...got someone in retentions who basically extended my Triple Play for 2yrs, so they can do it if you get the right rep.
What does FIOS need to advertise in the paper for? Every other damn day I get a FIOS flyer in the mail, even though I've had them for over a year now. It does serve to show you what kind of promos they have going on and you can always renew two years to get the current promo.
Thats the reason u get the flyers. If they could advertise in newsday, you wouldnt be getting bombarded. I agree its over the top though.
My wife and I are very old fashioned.
I garbage picked this awesome 1960's tv set. We'll get a very fuzzy channel 7 and 13. No use for the landline anyway. Does anybody even have landlines anymore?
My son is like an evil scientist and designed this contraption to pick up internet via his wireless whatever it is in his room.
So, we'll be just fine with less.
I have a landline, no dvr, no hd and an old TV and computer from college, which is 10 years ago. I'm awesome.
The optimum triple play does have one advantage. Free movies on Tuesdays at clearview.
You know, in an entire year of having the rewards card, I've only managed to get free tickets once. Its always the same, I go and all the movies are sold out, OR its a holiday week and so there's no free tickets. I've tried going there early but its still nearly impossible. I've been going to the Clearview in Franklin Square. Maybe people have had more success elsewhere. But for me, its been impossible.
I've got FIOS coming on Monday so I've got my fingers crossed that it will be worthwhile.
I switched to Fios almost 1 year ago and I've been using my Optimum Reward card for discounted movies ever since (right up until this past weekend). Haven't tried it on the free movie night yet because my wife usually works on tuesdays, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for that as well.
FIOS is hands down better. WAY better than cablevision. Better quality picture, better equipment, better service. Now, I agree their billing is a bit screwed up, but once you straighten it out, it's fine.
CV just offered to pay Fios $315 in term fees , Triple Play w/ 2 h/d boxes 1 DVR box for $95 a month and 30/5 internet boost . Anyone think it's worth going back to CV ? FTR i'm paying $114 a month for 3 boxes 25/2 internet i think and no DVR with Verizon
I like Fios much better, just the interface and search functions are worth it to me. Of course, if you can save a decent amount of money then go for it and only you can anser that.
