Some parts of Suffolk Avenue look like San Salvador or Santo Domingo. Not a single sign in English.

The first time I ever went to Brentwood, I thought I somehow teleported to Central America ...

Are there any notable differences between Brentwood and Central Islip?

Like, demographic differences? Housing stock differences? anything??

And why is that necessarily bad? There are areas in Florida that are 60% Latino, but have very high median incomes: Over $150,000 annually

According to the 2010 census, Central Islip is a little more diverse than Brentwood. Brentwood is roughly 70% Hispanic, 15% White, and 12% Black (these are rough estimates). Central Islip is roughly 55% Hispanic, 20% White, and 22% Black.

There are a few areas like that in Miami, but I only visited one of them (as a tourist). When I went, there were nice, well-maintained houses and apartments, and the few people I saw walking around looked well-dressed.

You can still be a dirtbag with money, but that doesn't exclusively apply to minorities: There are rich white dirtbags as well.

The Latino-ization ( ) of South Florida has a very large Cuban ex-pat factor. The Latino-ization of Central Islip and Brentwood has a much more Central-American flavor. MS-13 is a Salvadoran/Central American gang and a very nasty and violent one at that.

Correct, Cuban-Americans are generally more Americanized and assimilated than the Central Americans and Dominicans up here. Most Cuban-Americans are actually staunch conservatives and bilingual.
