Question for the people that live in Rockville and Garden city. How much more do home owners pay in village taxes on average?
Like 5k a year.
For example the identical house in Oceanside to RVC might be 12 K and in RVC it would be 15k plus the 5k in village taxes. Sometimes it is double. Also harder to grieve taxes in RVC as RVC is a separate tax grievance you have to win twice.

Why are you reviving a 4 year old thread? Don't you have anything better to do?
Just when you think you've seen it all here....we now have what might be the first instance of someone bumping an old thread not once but twice! Amazing!

my post was 12 minutes after your latest gem, so not quite. But what are you doing wasting time responding to me? There's posts that date back to 2007 you could be searching for and responding to! Opportunity awaits!
The only thing you’re really getting with the high taxes is a beautiful and luxurious neighborhood along with the name. Garden city and Rockville centre have many things in common. One of them is ultra wide streets with towering trees which is not common with most towns. No one wants to pay high taxes, but I must admit you’re getting what you pay for in Rockville Centre. You can see it with people’s expressions and reaction to hearing that you live in Rockville centre. If you like quiet tree lined streets and a very nice neighborhood, I’d say buy in RVC.

Looking at houses in RVC and trying to understand the taxes.
Looks like the typical 3-4 bedroom home is charging roughly $16k in taxes, which seems crazy vs other nice towns like Garden City at $11-12k and Merrick around $12k.
What is causing this? Am I missing something?
I know you get a savings in RVC in your utlities, but that seems to amount to only about $300k/yr.
I know GC has industry which helps to keep theirs lower.
Merrick doesnt have industry and you are paying for 2 school districts (Merrick and Bellmore) and theirs still seem way less.
I’m sorry if this is offensive, but lets call it what it is - the higher taxes in RVC are just to keep out certain people... there is really no difference between those towns.
