Its a nice area. There isnt really any area in Islip that you should avoid due to crime. The only thing I would check on being on Cullen Ave. is the traffic noise from Sunrise highway. Go sit in the yard in the evening and see if you hear cars humming.

Nicer than Central Islip but not as nice as East Islip. Lived in Islip for about 6 years and never had any issues.

Agree. I would say East Islip has an edge on housing. But Islip's downtown area and town beaches are better. IMHO. Both are a great place to call home.

Regular no-frills Islip is just fine. Like most South Shore communities, south of Montauk Highway is a little more desirable and obviously a little more expensive.
Some spots north of Sunrise can be a little "iffy", but it's mostly a block by block thing, not the entire north of Sunrise area.

^^well if you want to leave from Islip train station, you will most likely have to transfer to another train at Babylon if you are headed into the city. The schools are okay, nothing special but not bad either. The area you are looking at is nicer than most of the other sections in Islip.
