How many long islanders were born here and how many originally came from NYC? (Babylon: home, school)

Talk about a rarity...moved to Albany "not for school". I met thousands of LIers in Albany at SUNY
I go to SUNY Albany and I'm a Long Islander. Trust me, people from Upstate are out numbered here.
Born in Queens, moved to Long Island when I was about 3-17. Moved back to Queens at 17. Now going to school up in Albany while being in Queens during the break.
Mom moved from LI to PA that's why I live in Queens.
Oh definitely! Did you go to college up there? When school is in session, between SUNY and St. Rose, I think there are probably more Long Islanders in the city than native Albanians. I was only able to move there by splitting rent on a house with a couple friends from LI who went to UALbany. I knew so many other people from Levittown up there....it was surreal. I think there were like 20-30 kids from my high school alone, and that's just from my graduating class!
I did take a few classes at HVCC in Troy, but I had to stop once I moved into my own place and started working more hours. I just thought it would be a fun change of scenery, and it was. Figured I might as well do something like that on a whim while I was young and still could. The only reason I moved back to LI was because I had a very hard time finding a "real" job up there and I got a good offer back home. The Capitol Region actually isn't a bad job market at all, but it's very competitive and I didn't have a college degree. I still lived very well on a pizza man's salary, rent was DIRT cheap, but I didn't want to get stuck doing that for the rest of my life.
Awesome city and I'd move back in a heartbeat if the right situation presented itself. My brother goes to St. Rose now so I still visit often. I don't miss the bitter cold, though! The weather we're having today would have been considered "not that bad" for Albany, haha.
My year at SUNYA coincided with the time St Rose became a coed campus. The young men attending St Rose were 'affectionately' dubbed Rosebuds.
I was born at LIJ which I believe is technically in Queens but I have lived in West Islip my whole life.
