Also, for the love of all that is holy, stay away from indemnity plans and health discount plans.
This goes double for ehealthinsurance.com and healthinsurance.com. They supposedly show you which insurance companies charge what and show you valid plans. But what they don't tell you is that they also give your information to people who purport to have "slots" open in "group plans" that you can "buy into." You will also get spammed out the yin-yang by these scammers.
I actually contacted one of them them and talked to the guy for half an hour. I kept asking, "Is this INSURANCE? Medical INSURANCE?"
He kept saying it was.
Then when it was time to fork out the credit card number, they have you listen to a recording to agree to the terms, and the recording says, very quickly so you can barely catch it: "You understand that this plan is not medical insurance."
So, I went back and pushed the options to talk to him again, and when I questioned him on it and expressed my displeasure at his dishonesty, he began yelling and calling me all manner of filthy names. I hung up, and he called me back to continue his tirade. Finally, I called them from another number and spoke to the manager, who forced the guy to get on the phone and apologize--and try to sell me the plan again.

Reason: To clarify.
Thanks for sharing that, Avienne. I had an application from EInsurance sitting around for a long time, and I am so glad now that I never touched it. I knew something wasn't right with the eInsurance company just by the fact that the application, which was filled out by a robot, lists my name, which any idiot can see is a female name, and is has me checked off as a male.
So did you ultimately land any low-price medical insurance anywhere?
