According to the the Census Bureau's online address search function, located at 350 Unqua Road, Unqua Elementary is in East Massapequa ("Massapequa, NY 11758" mailing address).

Yes, the house and school were both on Unqua.

Another geographical "fail" for Newsday. (Actually, do people generally refer to "East Massapequa" as Massapequa?)

Depends. If it's bad news, maybe not so much.

(Colloquially, many residents of the area refer to what had been West Amityville, and since 1990 the eastern-third of East Massapequa, as East Massapequa, referring to the western two-thirds of East Massapequa as Massapequa.)

Depends on the area. The portions of East Massapequa that is in the Amityville school district (east of Carmens Road, Carmen Mill Road and Carmen River) are generally referred to East Massapequa. The areas of East Massapequa that are in the Massapequa School district (west of all the Carmens's) are never considered or called East Massapequa. Unqua is in the Massapequa School district.

Technically Walter is correct. In fact the Nassau Shores are technically in East Massapequa, as is Massapequa High School.
