I bought a couch set from there (fabric) and ended up selling it. It was VERY uncomfortable. The armrest was made out of some sort of hard cardboard!

However, I also have a guestroom bed, and nightstands from there, and they look fine, but aren't used a lot either. I think Bob's is fine for that kind of stuff.

While its not made badly or put together badly, the finish comes off easily in my experience.

It doesn't matter where you buy your furniture, it's all made in China anyway.

Bought a micro-fiber couch which both ends recline and a recliner Aug 08 , the couch was replace because of stitching issues the first time and the mechanism on both the couch and recliner was bent within 3 months of use and the heaviest person that sat in it was me at 190 lb , total crap for everyday use maybe good for a single person who's on a budget and does't have the volume of a family with 2 young boys . Raymour , The Place , Jennifer Conv on Rte 110 all have clearance sections . I also purchased the Guardsman policy and made a claim 10/09 and was told the mechanism's would be installed in my couch 12/09 and here we are in feb 10' and still nothing

Not true actually:

Room & Board - their website says 80% of theirs is made in America: About Us - Room & Board

Pottery Barn - many collections are made in North Carolina - if so, it will say it in the product description

Not sure about Restoration Hardware.

South of the Long Island Expressway. Once you pass the Huntington Hilton, you'll start seeing them on both sides, Raymour, Jennifer Convertible, The Place (a block long full of many different manufacturers), etc., etc. If you're going South, stay on the west side and browse till you get to Rte 24 (Hempstead Turnpike), then turn around, go North and browse on the other side
Good luck with your search!

P.S.: They're not necessarily clearance stores, but many of the stores will have a clearance section.

BlueGiant:
Not sure where you're located but I've had good experiences with Stanley's Furniture on Main St., Patchogue. They seem to be able to get all sorts/brands of furniture at a nice discount price. If you find something you like they might even give you a quote over the phone. Def. worth a try (unless perhaps if you're pretty far from there...then shipping might be an issue)

Make sure to hit up the Raymour and Flanigan clearance store on 110. It's actually right next to Bobs, they have FANTASTIC deals on well made furniture - and make sure to haggle down the price, because they will. I got a couch, loveseat, chair and a half and large coffee table for $999.
