I just bought an overheard dvd player at BestBuy for my minivan. Have anyone used their installation service? Are they any good? They charged $199 for the installation. Any other places you recommend I go to in Nassau? Thank you.

No problems with my radio install.

I used to do that kinda stuff my self when I was a teenager/20 year old, but now I can't be bothered crawling around under the dashboard for half a day.

This was a few years ago, but my brother had a cheap car stereo installed at the Levittown Best Buy and had nothing but problems with it. After first having it installed, it stopped working entirely a few days later. No power, no nothing. They said the entire unit was defective and replaced it with a new one.....same thing happened. He would take it back, they would "fix" it and it would end up dead a few days later....I think he went back a total of three or four times. Finally I just decided to pull the thing apart myself and look at it. The piece of crap wiring harness they hacked together was getting pinned between the back of the stereo and the steel enclosure - though the stereo itself was mounted only by gravity so every time the car went over a bump it was smacking against the harness and shorting it out. I mounted it properly, tightened up the connections on the harness and tucked it away safely further back into the dash.....not one problem since.

I'll give them credit for at least not charging him anything (he had bought the service plan) every time they "fixed" it, but it was really a joke of an install...and this is a really easy job to do. I actually wouldn't hesitate to have something installed by them, though. I'm sure that was an isolated incident....and just to be on the safe side, I'd get the service plan.

Thanks for all the feedbacks. I feel better letting Bestbuy do the installation now. I bought the protection plan also.
