Hi,

I will be visiting NYC in April, staying near Commack.

Is it cheaper for me to drive and park in NYC every day, or to park outside the city and take a train?

Is there in face a train station near Commack? If so, is it expensive to park there for the day?

What does it cost to catch a train into the city?

Thanks for your time!

Evan

Evan, Your best bet would be to park out on the Island and catch the train in. From Commack, the Deer Park Station is probably your best bet, I don't believe there is a charge for parking there, but even though it is a large parking lot it is sometimes hard to find a spot. Prices for tickets varys by time of day, but typing in Long Island Railroad on a search engine will get you the scedules and the prices

Yep. Deer Park is the way to go. You can also leave out of Kings Park but the line is not a quick as Deer Park.

Thanks! I'm getting a price of roughly $10 each way for a train ticket. Does that sound right?

visit www.mta.info for schedules and fares... buy your tickets before getting on the train or you will pay a hefty on-board fee ontop of the ticket price

if you are closer to the port jefferson branch (northern part of commack) go to northport instead of kings park. northport is cheaper
