HV is so 1990. ; )

My husband and I moved to the Huntington area for a reason. Before we lived here, we found ourselves consistently coming to the village for dinner and what not...not other towns. As another posted stated, why would I want to drive an hour plus to a restaurant when I have so many options (and good options at that) within less than a 3 mile radius. If I'm going to travel an hour plus for dinner, then chances are my reservation is in NYC and my husband and I are spending the night.
But if you want me to list a restaurants outside of the HV area, then here:
Mim's in Syosset
Ruvo in Greenlawn
Good Steer in Lake Grove
and Roll-N-Roaster in Sheepshead Bay.
I'll give it a try if I'm ever in the neighborhood, but Wading River is literally 75-90 minutes from my home in Cold Spring Hills (Western Huntington). I'm not being geocentric, I'm just being realistic. A three hour round trip drive involving the LIE isn't my idea of a relaxing night out. Most people are likely to dine close to home.
I don't think Huntington locals are necessarily being geocentric. As you said, it's an awesome town. I think many people move here because there is so much to do. I'm not saying it's the center of the universe (that would be NYC ), but we love it! It encourages one to stay close to home. There's a reason we have so many visitors from other places on the weekends.
I started doing he calculations in my head, and yes -- I can see it being close to 90 mins, depending on time of day. Yikes!
