I've posted before about converting to gas from oil. With about 1/4 tank of oil left, I'd like to burn it off without getting another delivery. I know the weather will ultimately dictate what happens, but the fuel company insists on a full delivery in order to keep the boiler under contract. They won't let me put deliveries "on hold."
So here are my options:
A) Suck it up and get a delivery and risk losing a few hundred dollars when we convert in a few weeks.
OR
B) Cancel the contract with the fuel company and hope that I have enough oil to get through the season and that the boiler doesn't breakdown.
with temps right now a 1/4 tank should do, but otherwise cancel the contract and order a small amount COD. It will cost more per gallon if you only get, say, 50 gallons but that still might be cheaper than a fill up.
I don't mean to hijack but along the same lines, typically are there cancellation fees / oil charges if I move out before my annual contract is up? They aren't giving me a straight answer - they just tell me to call back when my house is in contract so they can look at anything outstanding.
