i m from queens, flushing, and moving to East meadow is also for my kid. i also have gas in my left and really don't want to use propane... but i found a heating system that just hang on the wall and can provide hot water and winter heat (all in one), but that thing runs with gas... and i dont have gas in that new house..so propane came up to my mind, i guess that wont work.. i think i will try to find out if anyone on the street would like to have gas too. thank you for your help.

i have just called the national grid, and was told the gas pipe is 2100 feet away from my house and also there 's no gas on the north side of N.Jerosalem... and still can't get discount or free even i get few neighbors who want to covert to gas because its too far.. the cost is about 150,000... and for national grid to develop that area (covert to gas) would take 5-10 years, that's a long time and i maybe not live there anymore after 5-10 years..........some place i can send letters to make them make that development faster?
also want to ask you guys, how much oil 1 family house use during the winter month? what do you think compare electric cooking to gas cooking? should i use propane cooking or electric cooking? need advise. thanx.

If it were me, I would not get a propane stove ... have to replace the propane all the time ... would rather use electricity for cooking. I don't think it would break the bank.

well, we decided to look in Bethpage and West Islip. We took East Meadow off the list. Not b/c there is anything wrong with EM, we just prefer Bethpage or West Islip. I am more familiar with Bethpage than West Islip, but if anyone has any info on both areas that would be helpful I'd appreciate it. If we had to choose, we would prefer Bethpage. I know it's not a large town, but are there any parts of Bethpage that are less desirable that we should stay away from? Thanks!

There are several Bethpage threads that you can check out.
A map of the Hamlet of Bethpage in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County:
The Hamlet of Bethpage has a different border than does the "Bethpage, NY 11714" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Bethpage, NY 11714" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Bethpage and a place can be in the Hamlet of Bethpage and have other than a "Bethpage, NY 11714" mailing address): places with a "Bethpage, NY 11714" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Bethpage are in the Hamlet of Hicksville and the Hamlet of Plainedge and in the Hamlet of Levittown in the Town of Hempstead; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Bethpage that have a "Hicksville, NY 11801" and "Plainview, NY 11803" mailing address.
