I got a one of those annoying tickets with the red light camera on the corner of Commack Road and Expressway drive .
My question is I thought I Read someplace that the county is required to post signs which say that there is a camera there. I did not see any such signs so I went back and took photos.
Before I send in the ticket with a not guilt plea does anyone know if this is grounds for dismissal of the ticket?
Why do you think signs have to be posted?
I haven't seen any "Do not rape/murder" signs posted either.
When you see a red light-stop. It really is that simple.
That said, I would plead not guilty. The only way to get rid of those cameras is to bog down the court system with not guilty pleas. If it costs more to prosecute than the revenue these cameras generate, they will disappear.
Yes I am serious. Was in the papers about a month or so ago. I don't know how it works but it has an ability to detect speeding and then shoot a pic of your plate.
Just a higher level of sophistication then the red light cameras.

How will I know which intersections have Red Light Cameras?
There will be signs posted at intersections where red light cameras have been installed. In addition, Suffolk County will be conducting a public awareness program about the photo enforcement program.
You know, you could just not blow red lights/race through yellows, and you won't have any problems.
