These politicians have one helluva brass set http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/images/smilies/foul.gif (broken link) raising the registration cost for motorcycles to $42.00 per year! These http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/images/smilies/censored.gif (broken link) miscreants cannot balance or responsibly spend their BILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR budget so they take it out on US! Times are tough. I commute on my bike (http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9296371# - broken link) because it saves me money. Give us a break! http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/images/smilies/banghead.gif (broken link)

Not for nothing, but its not only on bikes. All vehicles have had their registration costs raised. That ranges from your bikes to coupes, sedans, crossovers, min-vans, vans, SUV's, large SUV's, Hummers...

I was just online looking to see the fee for a license renewal. Mine is up soon and I want the heads up on what it is going to be. Anyone have any idea of what the cost is for a regular license renewal?

Are you sitting down Dawn?

Fees
For driver licenses with an expiration date ON AND AFTER September 1, 2009.
(The fees listed include the photo document fee.) * IMPORTANT For driver licenses that expire on and after September 1, 2009, there is a supplemental Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District (MCTD) fee of $1.00 for every six months the permit or driver license will be in effect. The fee is paid by residents of the five New York City counties of: Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Queens and Richmond (Staten Island). The MCTD fee is also paid by residents of the counties of Dutchess, Nassau, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Suffolk and Westchester. The MCTD fees are marked with an * in the chart below.
Fees to Renew a Driver License

Class A, Class B or Class C - $164.50/$180.50* 1,2- Valid for eight years
Class E - $112.50/$128.50* 1,2- Valid for eight years
Class D or Class DJ, or Non-CDL Class C** - $64.50/$80.50* 1- Valid for eight years
Class M or Class MJ - $72.50/$88.50* - Valid for eight years

1. If you also hold Class M or Class MJ (for example, photo document reads "Class DM"), add $8 to this renewal fee.

2. If you have a Class A, Class B or Class C CDL with an endorsement of H or X, you must pass the hazardous materials knowledge test at a DMV office within two years before your renewal and pay an additional fee of $5 for the test. ** See the important information about changes for CDL drivers that result from a law that eliminates the Non-CDL Class C license.

For the taxes we pay, this is robbery. Held up w/o a gun. I have just one word for these dastards, wait until November. Even if we elect a new group of useless assemblymen/senators, they will have heard us!

It'll say it right on your license, right next to your height...

I guess the "good" thing to remember is that it's for eight years, not for one. The State is just getting our money up front...
