I can recommend the company my wife and I used, we used RMC Restorations. They did our roof and gutters when they did our dormer. We highly recommend them. Rob at 516 987-3812.
My roof is 2 stories high with an attached 2-car garage. They calculated about 33 squares (3300 sq ft.). I paid $6600 last year which included ripping two layers of shingles and replacing a couple of plywood pieces. I kept the existing gutters because they were a few years old. The installed GAF architectural shingles in 1 1/2 days. I had another estimate for $9500 (also calculated 33 squares).
Cost of roof replacement depends on many factors. 1) How many squares they need to install. 2) Are you just doing a layover 3)type of shingle (I believe that GAF is the best) and 4) pitch of roof among others. GAF will warranty their shingles for 50 years and will also warranty the workmanship for 25 years even if the contractor goes out of business. on the GAF website it lists numerous contractors with their credentials. Hope this helps.
I have used DS Roofing twice with excellent results. Very professional and fully insured, and they have permanent crews (they don't use day laborers).
On the flip side, I have heard several horror stories about John J. Griffin roofing. A friend of mine calls them the "rip, roof and run" company, LOL.
