I am possibly thinking about moving into either of these areas in a few years with my wife, and 2 kids.
My daughter will be in elementary.

I was looking at the High Schools in the area and there current ratings /scores etc.

What i am confused about is how am i able to tell if a property that im interested in is zoned for a specific high school?

I.e Zoned for Garden City High School or Herricks High School as opposed to New Hyde Park Memorial High School?

I cant seem to find any real zoning maps

Thanks

I think you'll have more trouble differentiating between Herricks and NHP. If the house is in Garden City, it's GC schools. There are only a handful of houses that aren't in GC that are in the school district, and the few that are, are in Hempstead and Mineola.

When you do find a house that you like, you can find out in which community (city, village or CDP) that house is actually located, which is oftentimes different from the community named in that house's mailing address -- this is especially true of places that have a "New Hyde Park, NY 11040" mailing address, because the majority of places that have a "New Hyde Park, NY" mailing address are NOT in the Village of New Hyde Park -- by using the Census Bureau's online address search function. (CDP, or Census Designated Place, is the Census Bureau equivalent for a hamlet in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.)

And, very importantly, among other things, the Census Bureau's online address search function also indicates in which school district an address is located.
