If you read Newsday they tell you people are leaving the island in droves on one day, but then the next day they publish a story on how traffic will be so much worse in the coming years. If everybody is leaving shouldn't the traffic be getting better? As for Dutchess, some towns are better than others, stay out of the cities like Poughkeepsie. It's not as far from civilization as you think.
I saw that people are leaving LI in droves and moving to Dutchess County?
Kinda like the homes and space out there but...it seems pretty far from civilization!
I have never heard that and I don't know anyone (or even know of anyone) who has moved to Dutchess from LI. I would never trade LI in for Dutchess because it's too far from the City.
Yes, it is true! I saw a caravan of about 15 cars with signs that said "Dutchess County or Bust" on them. I can't wait until the traffic starts to improve and the beaches will be much less crowded in the summer.
Not sure if they are LI guys, but a lot of giant houses on former farm land built by Wall ST. Guys is what I've seen in parts of Dutchess Cty. The commute is pretty long, but it is a beautiful area.
Most LI'ers are looking for much cheaper living and better weather. Dutchess gives you neither of one and only minor relief in the other, since you are still in NYS.

How much you want to be those are not full time houses and the Wall St. guys have apartments in the City too?
