I'm moving from Long Island, NY to Northern Florida. I'm hoping someone can give me a name of a good moving company. I heard quite a few horror stories regarding missing boxes to belongings arriving more than a week late. I will be moving one month from now. I ready don't want a company that requires me to load and unload myself.

I used these guys a year and a half ago - They were pros to deal with. However I should say I rented my own truck and hired some of their crew to load. Sometimes they have guys around with some downtime. Those guys were great frigging artists at packing a truck. I probably had something break, but nothing I remember as significant, probably my driving. It was the manager on the phone who impressed me seemed to know what they were doing. Use your own judgment and good luck. They are in Huntington Station - Also color code all your boxes/furniture etc with little stickers and give everyone a master sheet of the color codes. Then they know exactly where everything goes and your not playing traffic cop all day - this here that there etc. Saves you on the hourly rate.

We used All Points Moving which are an Allied affiliate. They addressed the key goals of any such exercise; they showed up when expected, delivered when expected and knew what they were doing. The move wasn't cheap (Long Island to North Carolina) but there were absolutely no hidden expenses. Also, of the three estimates I received their's was just about the lowest (though I will state once again, not cheap).
We signed contracts in early April and closed end of June. I consider myself to be a very, very lucky person for having sold in a dying market.
