As baby boomers age and live longer, we will effectively be paying for at least TWO teaching forces at the same time. One will be in our schools. The other will be in Florida.

True.

With that being said wouldn't the ones in our schools have effectively been taught by those others in Florida?

My head hurts.

While voting 'no' on the budget may not do that, electing the right persons to the School Board could do that.

Anyone notice the declining enrollment in most of those schools, yet an increase in budget? Like I said in another thread, we're hemmoraging our young people and pretty soon all these teachers, cops, and town management will have no one to teach, police, or manage.

Really. Where is it that an Athletic Director makes $300,000 a year?

It is strange, why do you think that happens Walter?

Sure they will - they can teach golf at the public country golf courses to the retirees of the LIRR, the police can play traffic cop to all the golf carts and the town management will manage all the illegal gardeners on the golf courses.

As has been suggested, "THIS is why being fully informed is key, no?"

Most of those who do vote (the total vote is typically only about 5% to 7% of those eligible to vote) are not knowledgeable about how a budget is prepared and what it represents and that the first vote on the next year's budget is this year's vote for the school board trustee.
