My house has wall mounted air conditioners, several of which need to be replaced. Two of them are pretty big and very old and I'm not sure how many BTUs they are. I've been pricing them out online, but now i'm also worried about getting one that will fit the wall sleeve correctly. I'm also guessing that these units are really heavy, so I would need help moving them.
Does it make sense to have a professional come in and help me? Can anyone recommend someone? Is this something that Home Depot or Sears can do for me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Measure the sleeve, take the old model number, and then ask places like Sears and PC Richards and Home Depot what they have available and what installation services they require. I've replaced air conditioners in walls myself, but it is not easy and I probably wouldn't do it again as I value the health of my back.
PC Richards does do wall installations of air conditioners. I had mine replaced and they did a good job. Only problem is, as in my case, the new AC units were smaller than the old one. You might have some space showing around the AC unit.
I tried to get the model number from one of the machines, but it turns out that it was made in 1984 and the company no longer makes it. The obvious solution is to get another brand, but since I can find any information about this model I am not sure of the exact dimensions or even the BTUs.
Will someone from PC Richards come to my house to help figure out what I need? Or do I need to hope that I can guess correctly?
