My husband and I were just discussing last weekend how we never see bats anymore. 2 plus years ago they were a common site in evening skies. This past year we haven't seen one.

Just wondering if anybody else has noticed this or if it's just our area? And if it's related to White Nose Syndrome or something else is going on?

"Bats"...you know, those little mammals that fly and eat insects.

That's because they are at "batting" practice with the Mets.
They're not doing too well, Jerry Manuel is taking out all his frustration on them.

I don't know about the bats on Long Island, but there has been a fungus that has been affecting the bat population in the eastern US.

This long island forum is awesome. The threads alternate from taxes, teachers, sketchy person, taxes, cops, bats ... nice way to keep it interesting.

Sorry, I don't think I've ever seen any bats around my area. Do you live near caves?

I think they felt behind on the attic tax and decided to leave.

I can't tell if that's a joke or a serious question.

I would imagine the folks who live on the north shore or in more heavily wooded areas might be able to answer my question.

I live in Western Nassau and I saw 2 bats the other night. I have seen them in the past. I live not too far from wooded area.
