What the hell happened to Brookhaven the last time I was there everyting was good that was ten years ago. Port jeff station is illegal /homeless central now, coram has sex offenders everywhere, Medford is same doesn't seem that bad right now, bellports always good&bad. Is the standard low because of the high cancer risk for these areas? I was in front of comsewogue high school yesterday and a a group of kids were wearing gold and black gang shirts. How come no one notices this stuff?

I don't think it's got anything to do with the high cancer risk in these areas. There are towns with higher risk (Setauket, Poquott, etc.) that are still super places to live. As to why some places become run down, or areas for groups of certain types of suburban undesireables that's a great question.

Yeah the closer you are to the train tracks the worse the area gets. I live on the border of Mt sinai and Port jefferson station and its a very good area over here. Nice neighborhoods, safe, secluded and quiet. Everytown has its bad areas so dont hate against pjs. Port jefferson school district has alot of "dirtbags" as we would call them.

Near the tracks yes and near the lake streets too. You're exaggerating a bit when it comes to Coram though. The sex offenders have always been by homestead, carr, norfleet. That's for at least 10-20 years. The northern parts of Coram are much better but Coram has actually improved. I also drive past Comsewogue (North Bicycle Path) almost daily and NEVER see gangs there. I think you might have witnessed an isolated incident.
