My husband and I relocating from Philadelphia and have some questions about:

Franklin Square
Valley Stream
Island Park
Floral Park

School districts are not a concern. Are these areas nice and safe? Prefer any areas over the others?

Thank you!

I came here from Philly (NE).
If you can tell me what Philly neighborhood you want to try to duplicate, I can probably steer you.

GO FLYERS!!!!!!

shanny200, in case you are unfamiliar with the local geography, I've sent you information about the geography of "Lawn Guyland" as a DM.

While not so much a problem for the Hamlet of Franklin Square, the Village of Valley Stream, the Village of Island Park and the Village of Floral Park are much smaller in area than their same-named ZIP Code postal zones, and for these 3 communities, many, if not the majority, of places that have a Valley Stream, Island Park or Floral Park mailing address are not in the Village of Valley Stream, the Village of Island Park or the Village of Floral Park, respectively,

Thanks to both of you! I actually grew up in Massapequa but have been living in Philly since 2002. I'm just not familiar with Valley Stream, Franklin Square, Floral Park. People have told me that there are some "nice" areas and some bad areas of these places...if someone could tell me what areas to avoid looking for houses, I'd appreciate the help.

Floral Park Village or northern Franklin Square (SD 17) would be my choices. FP is the nicest one of the choices, a good community feel, access to LIRR, own police force but higher costs.

Well, I would suggest Franklin Square or Floral Park. Island Park would be nice if you want quick access to the water.

Floral Park Village for sure - mostly anything in the village of FP is good. It's a very safe area, own police dept.

Do you plan on renting or buying? What is your budget? Do you want to be walking distance to the railroad? Then we can guide you better.

I would not buy in the other 3 areas you mentioned (maybe Franklin Square). But no way to Island park and no way to Valley Stream. Best property value will be in Floral Park, esp for resale down the line.
