To those suggesting Port Jeff, Stony Brook, etc, keep in mind she wants a train ride of within an hour to NYC. As someone who went to Stony Brook University and s few times took the train from there into Manhattan its certainly more than an hour.

I have to agree with Babylon Village. It has a great downtown with mom and pop stores that offer all the amenities that you need within a walking distance. It also has great LIRR service. South of Montauk highway has an amazing housing stock if you are looking to buy and have deep pockets. The further north of Montauk, the homes become more affordable. Certain points in North Babylon can be iffy due to their proximity to Wyandanch.

Huntington village, and maybe Babylon village. Long beach fits your criteria, but it may be a little too far from your job.

The closest thing to Monterey on LI is probably Port Jefferson or Northport.

I would take LB any day over Babylon except for the commute in this case.

Delusional.

Unless youre thinking of North or West Babylon?

BV is stunning and pretty much has it all. Beautiful safe walkable downtown, easy access to Ocean, Bay, NYC etc etc etc.

LBs ok.Its just no BV plus LBs a bear to get in and out of.
Makes Huntington look easy ; ) which btw is still my second choice.

Babylon is one of the nicest and most easily accessible towns on LI.
Youre pretty much 30 min from anywhere.

Great place to live.
Check out the apartments near Ralph ave. Walk to Lake, Park, Town, LIRR. etc
Awesome

I think you misunderstood the post. I think Jetties was saying he personally thinks LB is better than Babylon across the board, but commute wise its more difficult.

Thas the part thats Delusional.

Dont get me wrong for a beach play LB is great....I like the Rockaways too but as far as getting the best of all worlds(near 110 too) Babylon Village is tough to beat. Go spend some time in both.

The bit about the commute is pure comedy.

; )

I lived in LB for 6 years so obviously I am biased, just like many people on here are about the towns that they live in. Delusional? Whatever.
