As some of you know I moved to Los Angeles about 2 months ago. One thing thats been bugging me since I got here is the lack of places to buy 1 gallon jugs of unsweet tea. Back in Michigan we had Tradewinds tea, it's kettle brewed, all natural and tastes great. I can't find anything similar in LA. I prefer drinking unsweet tea over cola since it tastes great and cuts down on sugar intake.

Can anyone help!?!?!

Question: why do you put it out in the sun?

Also, won't bugs fly into it?

The heat brews the tea.

Generally I put a lid on my jar of sun tea.

I've made it before by microwaving a bunch of tea bags in some water & letting it steep for a while. Then I pour it into my glass pitcher (that doesn't have a lid) with some lemon slices, cold water, & ice. That seems to do the trick. I've heard about the sun thing but wondered how much of a difference it really made.

I buy unsweetened black tea in the gallon at Trader Joe's. I prefer it myself as I do not like sweeteners in my tea.
