I'm considering moving there to pursue a film career. I know you need a side job at first. But is it unwise to move there without even a side job? If not, how much should I have saved before moving there? Is a car mandatory?

EDIT: Oops, title should be "Is it unwise to move there without a job?"

Have a few months of expenses saved up then seek employment. Your "side job" is going to be your "actual job" so you need to adjust your thinking. You can persue whatever film career (what exactly?) on the side. That's how it's done.
The car thing: Mandatory? No. But without a car your life will be miserable since you won't be able to get anywhere you need to be on short notice.

I do realize that the side job is going to become my actual job. Sadly, side jobs are hard to get these days. I just failed to get hired at a cafe despite two years cafe experience.
