It looks like I'll be moving to LA for a job next month. I've been thinking about this move for a while but I find I still don't know all that much about the city.

I'm trying to avoid living in a neighborhood where my car will get broken into if you know what I mean, but I would like to find something rather modest at first.

Which are the neighborhoods I should avoid.

Which neighborhoods are safe and inexpensive (by LA standards, I know no place is inexpensive by national standards)

hey randoman5

generally, there are many safe neighborhoods that are modestly priced all over LA. in what part of town is your job located? that'll most likely be the defining factor of where you would live unless of course you love sitting in traffic.

It's a job that requires recruiting on college campuses. It looks as though they'll be no way to avoid driving either way. Would you mind giving me a list of neighborhoods you think might fit the bill?

too vague, try again with some more specifics as to what you are looking for.

I'm just asking for a list of places that are safe or safer places to live, Other than Beverly Hills and places that one probably shouldn't consider other than say, Compton or East LA.

Agreed. Too vague.

Who are you? What do you like to do? Does your job have a central office? What colleges will you be recruiting on? Westside, Long Beach, SFV, UCLA, USC, all of them? What do you consider "modest"? How much will your job pay? What stuff do you have in your car? What do you usually have in there where people will break into it? What make and model is your car? If I stole your car would I get good gas mileage?
