Hey folks--moving to WeHo in two weeks (finally got an apartment!), now I'm wondering what are the best surface streets to get to/from work at USC during normal rush hours? I've been on the freeways a bit while apartment hunting, so I know I should try to avoid those.

Great appreciation in advance for your tips!

Default How long you been in LA?

If anybody knows a good way to get from here to there in So Cal, they don't tell anybody but their very best friend, if them, and certainly don't post it in a public place. Authors have had to leave town for putting those kinds of things in books.

Luck...

San Vicente to Venice to 6th Ave to W Adams to USC is probably the best you're going to get.

San Vicente can be slow, but, it is the shortest way.

La Cienega, La Brea or Vermont south to Adams or Jefferson and then over to the university.

Several years ago I purchased a book called L.A. Shortcuts. I don't remember the authors but it had some pretty decent tips on how to get around to different parts of the city avoiding freeways and traffic (at least to the extent that it can be done). Try one of the major book stores. There is also this website, although I don't use it myself because I don't need it. LA Shortcuts | LA Shortcuts.com - Cut through traffic.
