What businesses are currently in demand in SoCal? Anything that has to do with Welding/Steel/Ironworks? How do small businesses survive in Southern California, would it even be worth trying it there as opposed to a state like Florida? thanks.

You want a business or you want to be self employed? Their is a differance.

What business isn't in demand? Their is a need for everything here. Not that the need is as big now as in the past. Lots of people run welding, steel, ironworks shops around here. They seem to do OK. Why are you planning on doing it here? Why not in New York?

Small business survive because they can compete with others. I think that the reason small business fail is that they fail to account for how to make a profit. Everything that the small business uses to opperate had to be accounted for including your pay.

The economy is pretty bad in SoCal. I would look into cities that are growing in population outside of California.

There's demand there, but a lot of competition too. If you take cerveza for payment, then you have one up.
