Yes they are. I know of a condo complex that just rented a 1 bedroom for 1350. I know another downstairs 1 bedroom in Whitley Heights that rented for $1000/mo. Typical full house rental is indeed $5000/mo and up.

Basically the hills behind Hollywood and Highland. The Hollywood Fwy splits it. It was L.A.'s first Beverly Hills. It's where the stars lived. I believe the Magic Castle and Yamashiro are about it's westernmost boundary. The rental I mentioned is surrounded by mansions on 3 sides.
