I'm currently living in Houston although I've visited LA numerous times and I know I want to make my move some time around December/January latest so I would really appreciate any advice on the subject. I'm open to moving anywhere around the Melrose area (but not Hollywood)/Wilshire around Westwood/near Santa Monica. A few questions I have are best case scenario could I possibly find a place (studio) for $1200 max? Also, what's a good amount to have saved up? I am planning on sorting out employment once I get there if my job here in Houston does not agree to transfer me, but I will have the financial support of my family in between times if necessary. Thanks in advance to everyone.
I am in the same boat as you all too .. please share your thoughts with me and some advice will be appreciated

I was mistaken I thought you from Texas. By the numbers, yes Florida is better off than Southern California, if you think FL is bad, wait till you are in the job market here. Think long and hard about moving here before you do. I have met quite a few transplants that moved here thinking they would just move out here, network and find work only to drain their bank accounts and/or settle for something they don't like.

This thread does look to be like a bit of a sham. Like a poster has created multiple accounts to have a conversation with himself or herself. Whatever makes you happy......

I noticed the same thing; they all have less than 20 posts among themselves; looks very suspect!

really? is that bad in Cali ? . Florida there is not much jobs related to my major other than Nurses jobs and Hospitality jobs . I have a marketing and Management degree and about a month ago i got a sales job working night shift that pays good about about 40 k base plus commission annually but i am not happy with the hours and the pressure i have to meet plus over here in South Florida there is no life everything is dead after 10 pm

Or maybe it's possible that out of the 2 million + people living in Houston, 2 separate individuals are in the process of deciding to move to Los Angeles and sought out advice on a public forum.

I'd rather live in an apartment alone. I don't mind if it's a studio, but I would like it to be nice and in a decent area. Is $1000 - $1200 a reasonable budget?

Apparently this isn't the best place to seek out advice....no surprise I guess. I've yet to see one helpful piece of information to either of our predicaments....
