Private or not, Google Street View managed to get its camera car through there.

That said, having used Google to virtually follow a Sparkletts truck down this narrow, windy road, I can't entirely blame the residents. There's barely room for two cars to pass each other; if I lived there I wouldn't want scores of non-residents driving up (and possibly having to go back down in reverse gear) just to satisfy their curiosity. There's also the aspect of the noise that results from a large vehicle being driven up such a road in low gear. I grew up in Coldwater Canyon, although unlike Granito my street was definitely a thoroughfare, and I can certainly attest to being annoyed by the noise of all and sundry cars and trucks being driven uphill right past our house.

Notwithstanding, I don't think it justifies the aggression on the part of the homeowner.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I also can understand the residents being annoyed, but -- being at the receiving end of a punch to the head, a broken toe, various bruises and cuts, ethnic slurs, and being spit on -- it's hard for me to have much sympathy for this person, especially when he supposedly also filed a police report saying that I hit him first (I never hit him) and that I called him a derogatory name (also not true), and given that he chose to buy a $2M house in a busy area right next to what seems to be a public trail head. In any event, I wanted to post this just so other people are aware of the issue and that if others ever happens to have the same run in with this guy, they'll know it's not one-time incident.

take a bunch of big linebacker-sized friends up to his house & knock at his door. Bring a 6-pack and say you want to have a "talk"

One of these days he's going to confront someone who won't back up as he advances on him. That's when the fun will begin.

If it'sbthe same guy in the video, certainly bring it to the courts attention, that's if your situation gets that far. This guy seems to have an anger issue.

But come on, can't the city give you a definitive answer on the status of the street?

Oh my God! That is the same guy! The same insane attitude and demeanor too, though he was less threatening in this video and seemed to be lying to try to make it seem as though the guy recording the video was as fault. Unbelievable. Thanks so much for posting it. How did you find this video?
