Hi there!
So im planning to move into my first apartment in Canoga Park (Moving all the way from San Diego) and for them to process my lease I have to have my account set up with LADWP. Today I call them, of course get an outrageously rude woman and give her all of my info. She puts me on hold and when she picks up the phone again she tells me that my social does not match my name. She tells me I have to come into the branch and bring all my identification with me. I thought maybe she entered some numbers in wrong or what-not so I called back after work this evening. The guy tells me the same thing...
So anyways I was wondering if anyone has had any of these problems before, if there's anything I can do about them letting someone else use my identity, or if I can ask for any type of compensation for having to take a train, the metro, and a bus to come to their office for this major inconvenience.

Thanks

First thing I would do is figure out what is screwed up with you SSN. Call the Social Security Administration and get this worked out.

I mean this as lease rude as possible, but .... are you serious? Compensation?

With that being said, I agree with Charles. You'll probably need to go into a SS office and make sure your info matches up. They wont compensate you for the trip either, however.

I actually had this exact same issue when I moved out to California a couple years ago. I had to update my info at the SS office and then go to the LADWP office and give them my info there... It didn't take too long but it's a hassle nonetheless.

So yeah, unfortunately I'm pretty sure you're going to have to actually physically go to the office. By the way, it's kind of hard to find, it's on a side road but maps tend to make it look like it's on a main road. (it's on a corner I think but the entrance is on the side road)
