I am an actor whose day job is the alarm business.
Im also a voice over artist/musician.
Need to rent a room or apt for bout $500-600/mo.
Would like to be close to the studios but dont want to be round no gangs.
MInd you I walked NYC streets at night,
and sold alarms in the inner cities like newark, paterson etc. and came across tough situations and I dont usually back down but older now and learned that a soft answer turns away wrath...
So please help me also if you know how to get agent representation and the smaller agencies to get work please advise.
I figure Im gonna load up the SUV and move to Beverly,,
Seriously tho would make the trek and drive out so I have my vehicle tho a gas guzzler, its a great truck,
WHat way can I get there avoiding serious snow along the way.
again NJ right by Giants stadium to LA

I have driven across the country many times, and have used every major cross country route.
For winter travel. the only option is take 95 south to Jacksonville Florida, then take the 10 west to Los Angeles.
Great trip with the exception of Texas.
In Texas, it is an extremely boring drive.
Nothing to see but flat land 100 miles ahead ofyou.
Bob.

Well most of the studios are in the Valley or over in Culver City. Tough business to break into, hope you have lots of money saved and know some people.

You could rent in Burbank or over in the Culver City in a roommate situation in that range.

Maybe even 2 roommates. $1000-1200 is tough for a 1 bed.

Wow, in your small budget you have millions of possible room mates in garages near by.

Smile Where to live "on the way up?"

Try Casa Loma La Apartments, 208 W 14th St. Los Angeles, CA 90015
(213) 744-9911. Near downtown LA and close to both the Santa Monica and Harbor freeways. Rent is about $550 for shared bath; about $600 something for private. Includes utilities, cable, etc. Rooms are decent size and management cares about the tenants. Some have lived there for well over 10 years. Yes, there are bums in the area so the building has security. Call Pierre for more information.

You shouldn't have a problem getting a room to rent for $500-600 in most sections of the city. The drive from New Jersey to California sounds like it would be really fun. But I think you would be better to take as many southern routes as possible due to winter weather. Even in the Southwest U.S. the weather has been very stormy and flash floods in California, Arizona, New Mexico.
