I looked and re-looked at the design and now I'm actually defending it. I at first didn't appreciate what it meant that the interior gallery was column-less. That means the top level is completely uninterrupted space, about an acre. Curators can put up temporary walls however they choose to exhibit the art.

That meant the roof couldn't be conventional because of the weight and length of beams. I take it they came up with this honeycomb lattice and continued it down the walls. Form followed function, and I thought it was purely design. OK, I get some of the design decisions now. Immediately I was cool to the building, but now I at least appreciate it and do think I'll eventually like it or more.

Piegons are dirty, no good birds. Wish they'd all die.
