It's probably a reverse thing when it comes to minorities.

A good portion of minorities may be more interested in sports where they can see "people like them" play, or they watch sports that they played growing up and thus said sport(s) has become part of their own personal culture.

As far as I can recall, the Kings didn't win one Stanley cup while Gretzky was there

The Kings haven't won a Stanley Cup since Whitey Widing, Cowboy Bill Flett, Don Kozak, Butch Goring, Ross Lonsberry, Bobb Berry, Bob Pulford, Rogie Vachon, and Jiggs McDonald (the guy who was replaced by Bob Miller around 1972) were there. In other words - never.

This could be the Kings big year. With some big offseason trades and signings, the Kings are ranked among the top 5 teams in the NHL by many experts. I wish I could be at the home opener tonight, I'm sure it will be electric!

Anyone else having a hard time watching the Kings right now? I have Cox Cable and it looks like I don't have NBCSN on it. Conference Finals on some obscure cable channel? What's up with that?

No, it was on NBCS, they won 4-2.

It'd be nice if they'd put them on a nat'l over-the-air network or ESPN, but this isn't Canada ldo.

Are you talking about the same Clippers Nation that once outdrew the Celtics (from scary passionate sports-mad Boston) in a year in which the C's made the playoffs and the Clippers didn't? They're doing just fine.
