I know of Signal Hill in LB and the little forest type deal by La Serna High School in Whittier and wanted to go to more spots like this to take my GF. I've heard of "top of the world" in Hacienda Heights but don't know how to get there.

Head east on Colima, past Hacienda. When you get to Punta del Este, turn right. Keep following it until it ends. Park, and go through the fence on the right, and climb the short/steep hill. You can also go down Turnbull Canyon Road, from Beverly Blvd (Whittier) will take you around in a twisty canyon road over to Hacienda Heights, there are spots to park allover and scenic too...you can also go down Greenleaf Ave till it ends towards the Whittier Hills, there are a bunch of little streets leading up to the hills, and I can't remember the one in particular, but it dead ends and you have no choice but to back up and turn around....however that spot temporarily at night is pretty awesome..(don't know if the home(s) surrounding it might complain nowadays... years ago though we use to park there as a kid all the time...
