Alright you guys so I'm heading out to Sylmar today and I have to be there by 3:30PM. What would be the ideal time to leave and not deal with the horrid LA traffic? Would the 405N be better to take than the 5N since the 5N has three lanes up until around downtown LA? Thanks.

Between 10 AM and 2 PM should be good. Hopefully there isn't an accident. I wouldn't bother with the 405, the 5 should be fine at those hours. Check sigalert.com for traffic updates.

There are a lot of alternatives 605, 2, 110 to the 210; It would be nice to have a traffic GPS.

Here's how it was last week

you should have left by now thats for sure.
next time gives a bit more of a heads up.

but i would suggest the 5 leaving at 2pm. it never hurts to be early.
you are pretty much going from one part of the county to another. thats quite a drive.
