Last week I was out in Los Angeles helping my close cousin with a move. Last year he graduated from USC Grad school- Gould school of Law and is now looking for affordable areas to live. His desire is to find a contemporary ranch home that is rent stabilized or has overall cheap to buy. He is saving up his money and is expecting to live a pretty modest lifestyle for the time being. We found a couple of affordable homes for sale that were south of Florence Avenue and North of W.Manchester. Is there a name for this neighborhood? He is use to living in fringy neighborhoods as he has attended USC for many years but he we both came to a consensus that living east of Van Ness would not be a wise investment. I've heard that Inglewood as a whole has seen seen some gentrification and isn't as dangerous as it once was.
Anybody with some good info on this area would be much appreciated. THANKS!

It's ok, but it's better South of Manchester, East of Crenshaw and West of Van Ness.
