Never done this commute before, only have do it once. What can I expect for a Monday morning at 8am and Monday afternoon at 5pm?

No I am not kidding I do have to do it!

Is 90 minutes each way realistic?

Sounds like a nightmare. It would probably take an hour.

I'd say 60 to 90 minutes. I haven't had to do the 8am thing, but for the 5pm drive, I'd recommend taking Sepulveda rather than the 405. What looks like a twisty-turny several-mile detour on a map will usually get you over the Sepulveda Pass faster than that straight, steep stretch of freeway.

Yeah, 60 minutes probably. Maybe you get lucky on a Monday light day and its only 30 minutes. Second Sepulveda. If you have a gps that shows traffic, use it. Otherwise log onto traffic.com 15 minutes before you leave.
