Ok, I have tried getting quotes online and nothing is very stable. Keep getting jerked around. What is the average cost per month for Full coverage and Liablity coverage on an average vehicle? Not a Lambo or some exotic that 99% of us cant afford, but real cars like a Taurus or an Impala or a Civic etc etc??? In the Los Angeles area. I'm thinking of getting a car but i just wanna see some feedback on what some of you in the real world pay. Thanks!

It depends on several factors, including how old the car is, how many miles you drive a year, driving/accident history, and how many cars you plan on insuring (most companies give a multi-car discount).

We have a 2006 Honda Civic, and pay $85 a month through Progressive. We have some of the barest coverage you can get, though.

When choosing your insurance company, I'd also take into consideration the customer service and how they handle claims; we mainly chose Progressive because we thought their customer service was exceptional. Every time I've had to talk to someone, I've been very happy with how the conversation went.

It varies so much based on age, zip code, exact model of car, driving record, liability limits, etc. Not to mention various discounts for students, professionals, garage parking, etc. It could be $50/mo or it could be $200/mo. Who have you gotten quotes from? I'm with Mercury and they're quite a bit cheaper than when I had AAA. I'm paying $150/mo for full coverage on two pretty new SUVs with two drivers in OC.

It's really hard to get an average because there are so many different factors that will effect the rate you pay including:
type of vehicle
vehicle usage
age and sex of driver
driving record
amount of coverage
garaging zip code
and much more......
I'll guess that you can expect to pay $90 to $125 a month for full coverage. If you are under 25 years old or have tickets/accidents on your record you can expect to pay more.

I'm 32, no accidents and a couple speeding tickets in Indiana over a 14 year period. See I was under the impression that auto insurance in Southern California was so outrageous that I would not be able to afford it. But the more I look into it the more I see it's really only like $10-$40. more per month. A few people online a long time ago said I would not be able to swing it, they said it was in the $200. month range for the bare bones coverage, now i see i was stupid for not checking into it more, so that's now what i am doing. Thanks for all you help everyone. Now I think I'll try Progressive. Poster Elle Bebe said they pay $85.00 for a 2006 Honda, that means if I get an older car (long as the crash tests are impressive) I should be able to get about the same, or lower price. Thanks again!

I have a 2003 lexus and Pay $1200 a year for a full, high coverage at Merucry Insurance. All others gave me double that amount for a much lower coverage. I bought the car new in 2003. My starting rate was even lower.

Something I don't understand is how classic car insurance cost so much less than a regular vehicle.
Case in point.
I have a 2003 Dakota pickup, with full coverage, with 21st century. The price is $1016.00 for a year with a $500 deductible.
My 1966 Thunderbird is insured through a classic car insurance company, with an agreed value of $25000.00, meaning if the vehicle is a total loss, they pay me the $25000.00.
Full coverage with a $500.00 deductible, and it only cost $212.00 for the year. (that is not a typo, that is the correct amount)
The only stipulations are, it be parked in a garage when not used, and a limit of 5000 miles a year.
Hell, I have had it about a year and a half now, and have only put 3000 miles on it, so the mileage limitation doesn't bother me at all.
Looks like my classic insurer is being fair, and charging what it should be charging, while the insurer for the Dakota is taking me to the cleaners.
Tough to understand how one can charge so little, and one an outrageous amount.
Bob.

Most companies will provide you with a home/auto discount. I would do the home or renter/auto with the same co.

Garaging zip code is the big factor. If you have a clean record, Ive heard wawanesa and amica are preferred carriers with favorable rates and comprehensive contracts....

Keep in mind the cheap carriers are pricing low and making up for it in claims handling. Progressive is one of them.
