As for the OP: I don't think anyone except Putin would meet his standards. And - fortunately for L.A. and California - he can't run for office here.
Another "Russian Christian Orthodox Nationalism" reference, despite my not being Russian, Christian, or particularly orthodox...

BTW, majoun, did you ever see video of Villar serving coffee at Starbucks as some sort of charity event? If so, didn't Villar look just a little strange wearing an apron and serving coffee with his sleeves extending all the way to his wrists? And at ground breakings, swinging a pick axe, with again sleeves all the way down, and so on? What's Tony have under there, hmm?

I meant in terms of authoritarianism.

As horrible as the system of government is in Los Angeles, virtually the only good thing one can say about it is that an authoritarian control freak couldn't easily be mayor considering the limited power of the office.

Is there anyone you'd think of who'd be qualified for the office? (If I'd lived in L.A. at the time of the last election I would not have voted for Tony, btw. I'd probably have voted for Craig Rubin.)

I'm not sure if I saw those, as I haven't lived in L.A. for a couple years although I've visited frequently and plan to return. What you describe isn't so unusual.

Certainly there are many things one can criticize Tony for and which he deserves to be criticized for which are very real. Saying he was a Mongol and has Mongols tattoos, however, is pure conjecture without factual basis. (Unless you personally know Mongols members who can vouch for that ; I highly doubt John and Ken know any Mongols personally, they don't seem like they hang around one percent clubs any more than I do, which is not at all.) Just like the example I gave of someone saying Sarah Palin was a former teenage prostitute ; just because someone's a crappy politician, has failed in their office, and holds positions one doesn't share doesn't mean that one should believe stories of this type. I despise Palin but I'm not going to say she used to be a ho when she was 18, because that's not true. There are enough real reasons to criticize her without making stuff up.

I voted for Walter Moore in the last mayoral election.

So people have something to hide when they don't want to roll up their sleeves? That's even dumber than the belief that Obama isn't an American citizen.

Have you seen the videos of what I'm referring to? He looks absolutely ridiculous...and yes...he's obviously hiding something. I'll donate $1,000 to the NCLR if I'm wrong.

Mr. Rogers never rolled up his sleeves, does that mean he's a bad person who has something to hide, too?

Did you ask Moore to roll up his sleeves to prove that he doesn't have any one percent club tattoos? Maybe Moore also has Mongols tattoos (not all Mongols are Latino)

The best thing is that because of term limits Tony Villar cannot be elected to another term as mayor.

The bad part is that he may then run for governor if Brown chooses to serve only one term. Even worse, he could get elected. Tony V is a very ambitious man, with a large ego. Many have said that he has always wanted to be an actor rather than a politician. For the sake of the citizens of California, let us hope that he pursues this line of work after his mayoral days are over.

Because mayors of L.A. get elected to the governorship so often
