Methinks if Reagan or Arnold had been L.A. mayors before they were governor, they would never have been elected governor.

Northern Californians will not vote for L.A. mayors for statewide office.

Not even when the little train in puppet land ran over his arm?

Tony V. may not be that much of a reach. He has very broad based name recognition. While not all Latino voters care for him, he would pretty much have the Hispanic vote in his pocket. This far away hard to predict what will happen. Jerry Brown turned 73 last week, will he retire at the end of his term? Then there is Gavin Newsom. Remember him? He is just as ambitious as Tony V. Now waiting patiently in the LG post, a run for governor would seem likely. We might turn this around and ask, would Southern Californians vote for a SF mayor for a statewide office?

Gavin and Tony are birds of a feather.

Yes, they have done so repeatedly. Southern Californians will accept SF mayors more than Northern Californians will accept LA mayors. Being mayor of San Diego, as Pete Wilson was, doesn't seem to anger Northern Californians as much as being mayor of LA. Mainly because hatred of LA unifies the Bay Area and SD.

For the sake of the citizens of California, let us hope that he pursues this line of work after his mayoral days are over.
Heaven forbid that nut being governor of CA!:-(
