No overreaction at all. Its all the Raider Nation type gang bangy cholo criminal types who start trouble at Dodger Stadium. It is no longer a place where you can take your kids and family to enjoy the game. Its all because of those idiot cholo types like the ones who beat that poor Giants fan and the ones who stabbed that guy in the parking lot a couple years ago.

Oh, and THATS RIGHT!! I SAID IT - its the stupid hispanic cholo gang bangy type who are RUINING it for everyone. I am all for cops profiling those guys and make SURE that they behave in a civil manner like us regular people at those games.

Heck, they should go even further and not allow the combo of cutoff khakis w/knee high tube socks and Chuck Taylors on people.

I totally agree. Id even go so far as having stadium security kick out anyone and their entire group if they overhear anyone in the group refer to another by names like Sniper, Joker, Swiper, Stranger, etc. If youre "name" is Swiper, Stranger, Sleepy, Joker, etc. you are not welcome to Dodger Stadium. You will be kicked out.

So my question is still: is the city's reaction all about perception, and the potentially negative effects of all the bad publicity?

Or is there a real public safety issue- is Dodger Stadium a place where there are lots of gang members? Is it no longer safe to take your kids to a Dodger game?

One bad incident does not necessarily mean there is a problem. A beat-down as was administered in the stadium parking lot is more likely to occur at a neighborhood liquor store. Is there a problem at Dodger Stadium with gang members running amok?

Or are people over-reacting? Scoring political points on the actions by a couple of random thugs? Based on the numerous racist comments I've read today in local blogs, I gotta say, my BS detector is going off.

You are all for profiling until you or your family are the ones that are profiled. Then you whine and scream. But it's ok for everyone else until it is you.

I'm all for the crackdown! I don't want to see my beloved Dodger stadium become a gargabe dump like the Colesium.:-(

If you can't tell the difference between a family (of any ethnicity) out to enjoy the game and a cholo looking for trouble, you're dumber than you look.

Exactly.

All my life Dodger Stadium was place that had this magic almost on a par with Disneyland, it was an EVENT to go see them play. It was good wholesome fun for the entire family. Now, the knucklehead "Raider" types from a certain "segment" of Los Angeles has just about TOTALLY ruined my once magical Dodger Stadium experience. Thank you Frank McCourt and thank you William Bratton for stepping in and hopefully rid the greatest ballpark in MLB of the cholo gangster idiots who ruin it for all.

I sure do hope they catch the idiots who beat that poor paramedic Giants fan.

In more hopeful news, Dodgers and Giants faithful enjoyed a great day of mutual respect and friendly rivalry at ATT today, while at Dodger Stadium, $61,000 was raised for the medical bills of said Giants fan. Maybe we don't all want to kill each other after all.

certain Dodger fans really should take a cue from Yankee and Red Sox fans. Yes it's a bitter rivalry but at the end of the day it's just sports and not worth getting beat up over
