Any advice on areas to live near city of indusrty california?

Industry,Whittier,Downey,S of the 605 have very nice areas.

Whittier fits your bill. The downtown one of the more lively ones in the burbs. If you guys are willing to go 30 minutes out from Industry at that commute hour, go to Fullerton. It is more college like but has a ton of restaurants and bars because of CSU- Fullerton.

I don't see Downey as a place that is too culturally exhiliterating for 20 somethings.

Yeah,you are right about 20 something in Downey. Whitter has a real cute downtown area and a real modern mall. Love that Panera Bread.
