What would be a decent place (city) in between Hollywood (Los Feliz area) and Irvine, is it Norwalk or that area? preferably some place that is generally safe.

School is in Hollywood and work is in Irvine, the distance only matters because of the commute so somewhere that would make the commute a bit easier would be helpful too.. perhaps near the 101 I was thinking? I'm not from LA/OC so I have no clue just by looking at GOOGLE MAPS.

thanks.

Wow that is a huge distance. Hollywood to Irvine is 50 miles. In traffic it could be over 2 hours each way. If you take night classes, it is going to be a challenge to get there at night from work. If you take morning classes, I would suggest living by school, but the commute home will be a nightmare.

Norwalk is in the "South Gate" area of Los Angeles. That's the name of the region. Norwalk is not the safest suburb, but it's not terrible. La Mirada is just east of there and really safe, but more expensive. Parts of Buena Park are pretty good, others not so much. Cerritos is another pretty decent suburb.

Norwalk to Hollywood is over an hour each wa in traffic. Norwalk to Irvine is probably just under an hour in traffic. Without traffic, Hollywood to Irvine is probably 75 minutes with Norwalk right in between.

One other option is to live in Long Beach by the Blue Line Rail station. Then you could take the train downtown and switch to the Red Line to Hollywood unless you are working far away from a red line stop. If that syncs with your school schedule, I would do that and you can do your homework or studying on the train.

Long Beach to Irvine is still about 45 minutes in traffic though.

Can you be a bit more specific of your work and school schedules? School at night? Only some days? Typical work hours? Any flexibility in either schedule? The more you provide, the better the replies can be fine tuned.

Thanks guys for replying, work will be your typical 8-5 and classes at night twice a week and on Saturdays too. Not sure yet on the schedule of the classes but I'd say from 6:00 - 9pm or 6:30- 9:30 pm. 10pm being the latest.
