The other day I was in Pasadena and this man starts riding his bike next to me, and I'm trying to ignore him, but he's like "oh hey, I thought we could talk for a moment, unless you're in a rush". I said "actually I'm not up for conversation" he was like "oh ok, I just like the way you look". And he wouldn't go away. Now, I'm new to los angeles, (8 mos), and I was a little suprised someone would be so bold in pasadena as I've been there before and most people seemed laid back and non aggressive. This kind of turned me off to the apts I was I was checking out. A compliment is one thing, but someone following you on their bike is another. I'm glad he finally took the hint because I was about to practice my self defense.

Parts of Pasadena aren't that great and the city as a whole didn't really have a rebirth until the late 1990s.

Ok thanks...I always thought pasadena was like a mini beverly hills, but more down to earth. I was near the lake metro stop and it was a lot different than the memorial park area.

Old Town Pasadena has some of the best restaurants in LA, more of the old world WASPy LA. Not the Hollywoos scene.

Pasadena is very nice. You can encounter pushy pickup artists anywhere, though. They're certainly not exclusive to Pasadena, and you could run into them anywhere in the LA area. The area around Lake is very safe, just not not particularly exciting. Lots of office buildings.

Umm no. I moved here a little over a year ago and there are definitely more sketchy spots than safe ones, in my opinion. The farther east you travel from Lake Ave and of course S. Pasadena are probably the safest. In my neighborhood (which is supposedly a "safe" one) there are 3 burglary rings working right now. We have heard gunshots and every night the police copters are out. If this city is safe then I wanna know what is unsafe.
